Αντίστροφα έχει αρχίσει να μετράει ο χρόνος για τα φετινά Όσκαρ, ενώ οι υποψηφιότητες ανακοινώθηκαν το μεσημέρι της Τρίτης.
Η ταινία «Το Shape of Water» του Guillermo del Toro σάρωσε όλες τις υποψηφιότητες (13 στο σύνολο) συμπεριλαμβανομένης και αυτή της καλύτερης εικόνας. Ακολουθούν οι «Τρεις Πινακίδες Έξω από το Έμπινγκ, στο Μιζούρι» με 9 και η «Δουνκέρκη» με 7.
Οι δύο πρώτες ταινίες είναι υποψήφιες και για το βραβείο καλύτερης ταινίας. Αντιπάλοί τους τα φιλμ Get out και The Post.
Η 90η τελετή απονομής των βραβείων θα γίνει στις 4 Μαρτίου με παρουσιαστή και φέτος τον Jimmy Kimmel.
